Snow + Flu Shot = Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

Today was the day that I went to my doctors office for pre-admission testing. Well, unfortunately my dear old doctor persuaded me to get a flu shot while I was there. I wasn't really all that interested, but since I am a diabetic and I have a history of getting sick quite frequently during the winter months he thought it would be wise. So, I bit the bullet and said ok. Hahaha, I am such a fool. I am feeling the pain and discomfort tonight. The last time I got a flu shot was 4 years ago and I told myself I probably would never get another. Well, I guess I ate those words. My arm is killing me and I am feeling pretty yucky tonight. They told me I would have aches and pains and indeed I do. They also took blood as part of the testing and did an EKG. The gal that took my blood was less then pleasant and had NO CLUE on how to put a needle in to draw blood and then when she had to switch the vials for more blood...... HOLY MACARONI. I thought I was going to go through the roof and all I could think of was "Yep, that is so gonna leave a bruise and I think that needle just came out of my ear on the other side of my head". Uh Yeah, she was clueless to say the least. I have been sitting here this evening and wondering why they even have unpleasant people working in that field. I mean for Pete's Sake, it isn't a pleasant experience to begin with and then you throw some rude woman on top of it that makes things worse by her not being familiar at all with a needle or people skills. Yep, I was just happy to leave there when I was done.

On another note..... it was snowing all day and I thought it would be perfect to warm up with some homemade chicken noodle soup and I must say it was SO GOOD!! My hubby took today off to stay with Cameron while I had my appointment and so he was here and we put everything together to make a delicious pot of chicken noodle soup. I of course added the spices to give it that final touch, but it was yummy and I of course had to take a picture.

So, who out there gets flu shots and do you believe that they work? Do you have any side effects you want to share? Are you ready for winter? Have you had any snow and what the heck - do you like homemade chicken noodle soup? Come on share your thoughts with me. I am waiting and listening!!

Mmmm, hot chicken noodle soup - YUMMY!!
A view out our back door this morning.

That soup looks yummy, wish I had been there for dinner. Especially since I had to run my airconditioning in my 90 degree weather. Can I just have it somewhere in the middle between you and I.

On the flu note, I do not get the shots anymore. The last time I did I got a different flu so bad it was horrible, I convinced myself it was the shot and I would never get one again. I have only had the flu one time since then and it was when I was pregnant... I do get them for the kids, go figure.

OK, the snow is beautiful...but I completely dispise winter anywhere but in FL. I have SO enjoyed the fall here in SC but I know as winter comes and I'm freezing I will be so jealous of my FL friends running around in shorts and flip flops. :)

Last time we got a flu shot we ALL got really SICK! I have heard other people say that too. We have never had one since. Not saying I wouldn't get one if I was at the dr's office and he insisted but I don't think I'll go out of my way to get one.

Oh, I so need a flu shot.
My arm is usally sore afterwards too but.. it generally goes away after a day or two and with the flu it can drag on forever..

Yummy. I love homemade soup..
Ugh. While it is pretty, the snow makes me a bit sad..becasue I hate being cold..lol.

I had never had the flu before until last Feb. And boy did I think I was gonna die. So I am getting the shot after I get back from New York.Just in case it does make me sick.

Oh,I wish we would get snow. Here in SC we barely ever get any.Just enough to tease us.Maybe it will snow while were in NY.

The looks wonderful and tastey!
